Luxembourg’s cyclist Elise Maes thrilled the crowd with a dominant performance in the women’s road race. Battling through challenging terrain and fierce competition, Maes crossed first the finish line, igniting celebrations across San Marino and securing a historic victory.
Liechtenstein swimmer Cristoph Meier made waves in the pool with his stellar performance, securing the gold medal in the 400m individual medley. Meier’s talent and determination propelled him to victory, earning admiration from fans and fellow athletes alike and setting a new record for the GSSE.
Andorran’s volleyball players Genildo Cassiano and Xavier Folguera delivered a masterful performance on the courts, clinching gold in the men’s beach event. Their skilful play and strategic prowess were on full display as they outmaneuvered his opponents, cementing their status as volleyball stars and bringing the first gold to Andorra.

ABOUT SAN MARINO 2017

The 17th edition of the GSSE, was hosted once again by San Marino. The 2017 GSSE welcomes the nine nations from previous years to compete in 131 events across eleven sports. The programme included disciplines such as archery, boucles, and table tennis. The 2017 edition further solidified the GSSE’s role in providing a platform for athletes from smaller European nations to showcase their talents and foster international friendship.
