European NOCs saw the most success in athletics (45 medals), judo (32 medals), and fencing and canoe sprint (19 medals each).
The oldest competitor was 65-year-old Juan Antonio Jimenez Cobo of Spain, who made his equestrian Olympic debut at Sydney 2000.
Andorran slalom canoeist Mònica Dòria came in 6th place in the Women’s C-1 event, earning Andorra’s first-ever Olympic diploma.
Albania won its first Olympic medals in history at the Paris 2024 Olympic Games. Chermen Valiev won a bronze medal in men’s freestyle 74 kg wrestling on 10th August 2024, and Islam Dudaev won a bronze medal in men’s freestyle 65 kg wrestling on 11th August 2024.
